Renewing loans and overdue charge

There are several ways to extend the deadline of the book:

  • use self-service My ESTER
  • send us an e-mail
  • call us
  • come to the library with your books

You cannot extend the deadline of:

  • magazines, newspapers
  • if the deadline has passed
  • if the book has a waiting list
  • if the reader card has expired
  • if you have already extended the deadline four times

Payment for delayed time

A fee for delayed time or intrest, if the borrowed book (or other) return date has been exceeded:

  • up to 30 days – 3 cents per day per book
  • more than 30 days – 6 cents per day per book

You can pay the interest after returning the book:

  • in the library by card or cash payment
  • by a bank transfer to Tallinn City Office bank account. Information about the payment will reach the library with a reference, usually within the next library working day. After receiving confirmation from our accounts, we will clear the interest amount.

If you are not 18 years old, you can read a book instead of paying overdue charges.
