EBSCO host databases include journals from a wide range of publishers, with a large proportion of scientific journals.
You can use the database in all our libraries. To use it, connect your smart device or computer to the library’s WiFi network or use the library reader’s computers.
NB! Tallinn Libraries readers can also use the database outside the library. To obtain a username and password, please contact the library at ls@tln.lib.ee or call 683 0917.
You can search for translations into Russian of the most important laws, codes and some of the decrees of the Government in the legal information system ESTLEX. You can also find the full texts of national legislation published in the Riigi Teataja (State Gazette) since 16.11.1988.
Legislation is accompanied by links to English translations of Latvian legislation in the same field. You will also find EU legislation of general interest and obligatory publication published in the EU Official Journal since 2004.

In the Language Dictionaries database you will find 30 different dictionaries, such as the Foreign Dictionary, Estonian Dictionary, Estonian-Norwegian Dictionary, English-Estonian Physics Dictionary, Russian-Estonian Dictionary. You can search within a single dictionary or by selecting multiple dictionaries.

The Äripäev Infobase environment provides information and advice in a variety of areas. The information resources are compiled by experts in their fields, who constantly update and renew the information. Texts are accompanied by audio and video material and examples of contracts, reports, rules and regulations, etc. If you can’t find the answer or if you still don’t understand something, you can ask the experts in your field for advice.

The Archive Information System or AIS is a database of the National Archives and Tallinn City Archives, which contains information about the documents held in the archives. The AIS is similar in nature to the electronic databases used by libraries to locate books.
The National Library of Estonia’s digital archive DIGAR archives online publications, pre-print files and digitised copies of publications. DIGAR contains books, newspapers, magazines, maps, notes, photos and postcards. Archived publications can be accessed through the ESTER e-catalogue and the bibliographic databases created in RR.
The aim of the DIGAR Estonian Articles Portal is to bring together in a single environment and provide access to all digitally born and digitised newspapers (since 1821), magazines and other periodicals published in Estonian in Estonia or abroad throughout the ages (since 2017).

The database of Estonian articles “Index Scriptorum Estoniae ISE” is compiled mainly on the basis of newspapers, journals, article collections and serial publications published in Estonia. From 1.01.2017 onwards, it will be compiled selectively on the basis of libraries’ subject databases. Based on both print and online publications.
It consolidates Estonian wildlife data in one portal. There are more than 25 600 species recorded.
The online version of the Encyclopaedia of Estonia is a web-based repository of information containing over 60 000 illustrations and 90 000 articles. It is structured by subject and divided into keyword articles. The articles include short definitions, personal articles and longer thematic discussions.
The most complete repository of Estonian film and film culture available to the public. The Estonian Film Database covers the work of Estonian filmmakers since 1912.
The Estonian Literary Database contains information about Estonian writers and their works of fiction, which can be reviewed and evaluated after becoming a user.
The Estonian Language Institute’s place-name database can be searched for place names in Estonia and abroad, as well as information on languages, letters and people of the world.
The Estonian Museums Information Centre provides an overview of exhibitions, planned events and other important information about Estonian museums.
MuIS allows anyone interested to consult the collections of museums that have joined the MuIS.
The Estonian Folklore Database contains various folklore databases in Estonian, English and German.
The Estonian national bibliography database contains books, periodicals, maps, notes, etc. published in Estonia and in Estonian in any medium.
Estonian Sports Biographical Lexicon, Sports Results Database, Sports Results Register etc.
The database of Statistics Estonia consists of a statistics database and a regional development database.
Encyclopaedia of Estonia (in Estonian, Russian and English).
ESTER is a joint catalogue of the major Estonian libraries. The ESTER e-catalogue contains records of books, periodicals, notes, sound recordings, e-resources, etc.
From the Council of Europe’s e-Library, you can download a range of publications in English, as well as postcards and posters on education, human rights, democracy and the law, health, online threats, culture, sport and more. For example, there is a sub-section with publications for young readers or teachers.
The aim of the eResource portal is to make digitised resources from Estonian memory institutions: libraries, archives and museums accessible.
About 7000 people with nearly 20 000 different pseudonyms have been entered into the database.
In the virtual basement of the Estonian Literary Museum, you can explore part of the Estonian Literary Museum’s extensive collections of Estonian folklore, literary culture and cultural history.
The Local History Portal is a common system for storing local history information in Estonian public libraries. It allows you to search for articles and publications on different localities, to consult longer texts and encyclopaedic material.
Interactive information environment presenting Estonian cultural history from the beginning of the 19th century to the establishment of the Republic of Estonia in 1918.
The State Gazette contains the full texts of laws, nationwide regulations, decrees of the Government and all amendments to the Riigikogu’s decisions, as well as various original texts.
The ROAD database brings together open access scientific publications from different countries.
The Tuglas Short Story Prize is the oldest continuously awarded prize in Estonia. Several short stories that have won the prize are available on the website.
VAU – Virtual Research Room is a virtual research room serving the National Archives’ clients, which brings together all the archives’ online resources and important archival information for archive users.
