Organise an event yourself

Organising a book presentation

We offer the possibility of organising a book presentation for authors, compilers and translators. We welcome all authors who wish to present their new work to the public. For this purpose, we offer free rooms.

To organise a book presentation in our library, we ask that admission is free of charge for anyone interested. If you would like to organise a paid event, a separate price list will apply.
If you are interested in having a book presentation at our library, please contact us to arrange a date, time, room layout, technical equipment or inventory.
We do not print book presentation posters or other brochures. Advertising is the responsibility of the event organiser.
Photography and filming at the presentation must comply with the conditions of Tallinn Libraries.
We reserve the right to choose which presentations to allow in our libraries, based on the applicant’s wishes and the library’s facilities.

Südalinna Library

At the Südalinna Library (Estonia pst 8) in the centre of Tallinn, you can make a presentation in the large hall, which we use for events, concerts, film nights and training.

The large hall (75 m2) is on the ground floor. Depending on the arrangement of the furniture, it can accommodate 65 people (theatre style) or 25 people (with U-shaped tables).
You can use the room during library opening hours.

You can enter the room 15 minutes before the agreed time. Please vacate the room at the agreed time, it is forbidden to stay in the room after the library closes.

There is also a piano in the hall that can be used for the event.

Liivalaia library

In the city centre, book presentations can also be held at the Liivalaia Library (Liivalaia 40), where three different rooms can be used for the presentation – the Event Hall, the Creativity Room and a group room for smaller presentations.

The Creativity Room (41,2 m2) is located to the left of the Liivalaia Library lobby. It is a space for events, puppet shows, meetings and training. The room is equipped with 25 folding chairs and 6 tables. The theatre-style arrangement can accommodate a maximum of 25 people. Data projectors and other equipment are available.

A group study room (30 m2) is located next to the children’s department. It is a room separated by a glass wall, where smaller events, training sessions and meetings are organised. The room is equipped with a wall-mounted whiteboard, four folding tables, chairs and a sink. Depending on the furniture arrangement, the room can accommodate between 12 (classroom-style layout) and 20 (theatre-style) people.

The premises of the Liivalaia Library can be used during the library’s opening hours.

Exhibition in the library

Tallinn Libraries welcomes exhibitions related to literary culture – such as book designs, illustrations and publications – that encourage more reading, support our values and fit in with the atmosphere of the libraries. We also welcome exhibitions of literature and cultures from different nations.

We no longer organise exhibitions in the Südalinna Library.
The library has the right to refuse to organise the exhibition. We will not exhibit works that may disturb or offend library visitors, do not support the library’s objectives or conflict with the library’s values.
