Services
- You can borrow a ROMOSS sailing 3 battery bank for on-site use to recharge the batteries of your mobile phone and other digital devices.
- There are four computer workstations. All computers are equipped with ID-card readers, and you can use a scanner independently at one computer workstation. You can book computer use time in advance by email or phone. WiFi is available in all our libraries.
As a reader of Tallinn Libraries you can:
- borrow from a self-service machine, return books in some libraries, and check your loans, overdue charges and extend the deadline for returning the item(s) if you wish. You can print out a loan slip or send it to an e-mail. It is not possible to borrow items from another service unit or reading room, to borrow items on hold for another patron, or to borrow items or the latest issues of journals from branch libraries. If you have any questions, please ask the librarian.
- with the smart return shelf, you can quickly return items by placing them on the shelf and pressing “Return” on the screen.
- pre-order books (or others) with ESTER status in the e-catalogue in advance via the website order form, e-mail or telephone. Loaning lockers are located at the libraries of Südalinna, Liivalaia, Kännukuke, Laagna, Nõmme, Paepealse, Pelguranna, Pirita, Pääsküla, Väike-Õismäe. After you have placed your order, the library will contact you.
We offer free individual and group training in Tallinn Libraries. We will agree on the time and place of the training together. The topics can be adapted and combined. We’ll find the right option for you.

Copies and printing
- We can print in black and white in A4 and A3 formats, and in color in A3 format, see the price list here →
Scanning
- Scanning by a librarian and sending to email 0,20 € per page.
You can play various board games at the library.
We also have Playstation 4 and 5. You can only play console games on site at the library. List of games here→
We invite kindergarten groups, classes and teachers to visit us for library hours.
- Library hour is an educational and participatory non-formal educational program in the library.
- It lasts about 45 minutes.
- Educational programmes are free of charge for Tallinn educational institutions! (except Culture Ticket classes). For institutions outside Tallinn, the library’s price list applies (except via Culture Backpack). ↓
Tallinn Libraries sell fiction (including children’s literature and poetry) and non-fiction books that are out of date, in large print or in new editions. Book prices start from € 0,15. The books on sale can be consulted at the library. The proceeds of the sale will be used to buy new books.
Libraries occasionally organise book fairs, keep an eye on our news, events calendar or join our newsletter. We also share information on our social media channels on Facebook and Instagram.
We offer our readers the opportunity to use our training class for free. Our training class can accommodate up to 12 people and a host. The training class has tables and chairs, a screen, and sinks.
To organise paid training courses, events or public events, the same space can also be rented at 40 € per hour, with a coefficient of 0,4-1,0.
From the sports equipment collection you can borrow for free of charge various training equipment, exercise and training games and other mobility-related equipment.
At Pelguranna library, a Toolbox is open where you can borrow various tools for home gardening, repair, and maintenance work. Borrowing is free of charge; depending on the tool, you may need to pay for consumables.
For readers with special needs
- You can access the library in a wheelchair or with a stroller via the ramp in front of the building. An elevator leads to the second floor.
- We have an accessible toilet.
- The service counter and training classroom are equipped with a hearing loop that you can use with your hearing aid in hearing loop mode.
- You can borrow a magnifiying glass for on-site use.

Public transport and parking
Public Transportation
- We are located near the Maleva stop (buses 32, 33, 73, and 73; trams 1, 2, and 5)
- You can view public transportation schedules at transport.tallinn.ee
Parking
- For those arriving by car, there is a parking lot in front of the library where you can park for free for up to two hours using a parking meter. You can drive to the library via Tuulemaa Street, turning onto Kangru Street and then turning left.
- Another option for those arriving by car is to drive to the end of Sõle Street and then turn into Pelguranna Street. There is also a library sign at the beginning of Tuulemaa Street on the left. When driving along Kangru Street, follow the traffic signs carefully.
