Services
- You can borrow a ROMOSS sailing 3 battery bank for on-site use to recharge the batteries of your mobile phone and other digital devices.
- We have five computer workstations equipped with office software and ID-card readers, and one computer also has a scanner. You can book computer use time in advance by phone or email and in person at the library. WiFi is available in all our libraries. There are floor sockets at the tables for charging personal devices.
- Using an additional monitor – you can use a large Samsung S27R650FDU monitor on site. The height and tilt of the monitor are adjustable, the screen can be moved left and right. It is also possible to rotate the screen to a vertical position. An HDMI cable or a separate adapter for newer Apple devices is available to connect to a computer. In addition to the monitor, you can use a mouse and keyboard. Ask the librarian for more information.
You can borrow e-readers from Tallinn Libraries for 21 days without the possibility of extending the return period.
You can borrow e-readers BOOX Go Color 7 and BOOX C65ML from Nõmme library.
As a reader of Tallinn Libraries you can:
- borrow from a self-service machine, return books in some libraries, and check your loans, overdue charges and extend the deadline for returning the item(s) if you wish. You can print out a loan slip or send it to an e-mail. It is not possible to borrow items from another service unit or reading room, to borrow items on hold for another patron, or to borrow items or the latest issues of journals from branch libraries. If you have any questions, please ask the librarian.
- with the smart return shelf, you can quickly return items by placing them on the shelf and pressing “Return” on the screen.
- pre-order books (or others) with ESTER status in the e-catalogue in advance via the website order form, e-mail or telephone. Loaning lockers are located at the libraries of Südalinna, Liivalaia, Kännukuke, Laagna, Nõmme, Paepealse, Pelguranna, Pirita, Pääsküla, Väike-Õismäe. After you have placed your order, the library will contact you.
We offer free individual and group training in Tallinn Libraries. We will agree on the time and place of the training together. The topics can be adapted and combined. We’ll find the right option for you.

Scanning
Nõmme library has a Canon CanoScan 8800F scanner, which can beused by readersfree of charge or with the help of a staff member for a fee of 0.20€/page. In addition to scanning documents and photos, the scanner can also scan 35 mm film or slides and 120-format film (as a stand-alone project). It is advisable to book an appointment.
At Nõmme Library, you can play board games on site or borrow them to take home.
We invite kindergarten groups, classes and teachers to visit us for library hours.
- Library hour is an educational and participatory non-formal educational program in the library.
- It lasts about 45 minutes.
- Educational programmes are free of charge for Tallinn educational institutions! (except Culture Ticket classes). For institutions outside Tallinn, the library’s price list applies (except via Culture Backpack). ↓
Tallinn Libraries sell fiction (including children’s literature and poetry) and non-fiction books that are out of date, in large print or in new editions. Book prices start from € 0,15. The books on sale can be consulted at the library. The proceeds of the sale will be used to buy new books.
Libraries occasionally organise book fairs, keep an eye on our news, events calendar or join our newsletter. We also share information on our social media channels on Facebook and Instagram.
We offer readers the opportunity to use our group room for free. The room can accommodate 8 people. Paid trainings, events, or public gatherings are not allowed in the group room.
From the sports equipment collection you can borrow for free of charge various training equipment, exercise and training games and other mobility-related equipment.
For readers with special needs
- You can access the library via a ramp in a wheelchair or stroller.
- We have an accessible toilet.
- There is a changing table in the toilet.
- The service counter has the hearing aid’s hearing loop, which you can use with your hearing aid in hearing loop mode.
- You can borrow a magnifying glass from the service counter.

Home delivery service
If you are a resident of Tallinn and are temporarily or permanently disabled and unable to visit the library, you can use the free home delivery service.

- You can get to the library by taking buses No. 10, 27, and 33 (Võsu stop) or No. 23, 36, and 45 (Nõmme stop)

- Visitors arriving by car can park for free in front of the library (in front of the school) on Raudtee Street
