Do Goalkeepers Wear Tiaras?

This sporty story is about a nine-year-old girl called Megan Fawcett, who desperately wants to play for her school’s football team, but never gets a chance to do that. Her coach, Mr Glasshouse, doesn’t seem to notice her at all. But Megan wants to become a goalkeeper and her biggest goal is to play for England. She is very motivated and she doesn’t give a damn about the different obstacles she has to overcome.

She comes across Hannah Preston, the captain of the Parrs football team, who, after a slight hesitation, agrees to coach the girls’ team when it has been formed. Megan takes up the challenge of putting together an all-girls team. She manages to form it quite quickly. The team gets an official name – Parrs under 11s, also known as the Parsnips.

The members of the team come from varied backgrounds, they are totally different by character, but there are some important things to connect them all – their motivation to play football, participate in trainings and compete with other teams.

The girls finally get a chance to exercise regularly on a professional pitch. They are soon officially accepted into the Nettie Honeyball Women’s League. They have the right attitude which is necessary to go in for sports, participate and succeed in competitions, including league games.

It’s all about teamwork, exercising, respecting each other, being serious and being emotional, trying to give one’s best no matter what and… just having a good time!
