The Last of the Spirits

Based on the famous novel by Charles Dickens, this book describes two orphans who are begging on the streets of London on Christmas Eve. The wealthy Ebenezer Scrooge refuses to give them anything. He is also believes that poverty should be exterminated.

The starving and hungry children fall asleep in the churchyard. Suddenly, Sam sees a ghost named Jacob Marley who informs him that he used to be a friend of Scrooge’s. Sam notices that the ghost is wearing chains. These are a reminder of the things that Marley left undone during his lifetime. Sam is angry at the ghost for wanting to go and warn Scrooge from having a similar fate to his. The boy believes that the greedy Scrooge doesn’t deserve any help and should die.

Then Sam, along with Christmas spirits, travels into the past and the future. He sees what may happen if Scrooge continues as he has done or loses his life altogether. This scares Sam and he is especially worried for the fate of his sister.

What exactly did Sam see and how did the story end? All that will be unveiled while reading the book. It contains a wonderful story, which reminds readers that sometimes miracles happen in our world. The book also teaches us that sometimes things are not exactly what they seem and the act of helping others may be the greatest gift of all.
